Missing in Action!!

Wow..I can't believe it has been February since I last posted. I guess time has just gotten away from me. I have however tried to keep up all the reading on my friends posts. I am sorry I haven't taken the time to post comments, but I have been keeping up.

School starts this next week here and all three kids will be in school this fall. Trevor will be going all day to 1st grade, Kaylee will be in kindergarten and she is thrilled at being able to go to big girl school. Isaiah will be going to Head Start this year. They have a wonderful program for kids with learning disabilities and delays, such as he has. He will get his OT, PT Speech and Special education while he is at school. Which is great for him and me. No more twice weekly appts. at our home. The kids are doing great and we have had a very busy summer. I cannot believe how fast the summer went in fact. We did swim lessons, they all three amazed me at how much they learned and Isaiah even went under water and swam, when I couldn't ever get him to go above his knee's, let alone put his face in water before lessons!

We had a couple of more trips to Kansas City lately to Children's Mercy for Isaiah regarding his injuries and delays. He is doing quite well, but we have to go back in October for them to do a more thorough exam, as they feel he has Cerebral Palsy! If he does, it is a rather mild case, but it is still something I wish we hadn't heard! But considering all he has been through in his short little life, this too we can get through! It is amazing how resilient these little guys are!

I have been recovering from surgery the last three weeks, I had a bad bout with gall stones and gall bladder problems, so three weeks ago they took my gall bladder out. It was Laparascopic surgery but there was so much infection and puss in my gall bladder that it was quite the ordeal. Took twice as long in surgery as normal. It also took a little longer to feel better, I had terrible pain afterward and for the first 2 weeks post op. I am feeling much better now and am finally getting all my energy back! Thank goodness!

I took the plunge and am starting College on Monday, pray for me! I am going to need it!! lol. I will be taking 15 credit hours, which is a full time student. Thank goodness I can do it all online which gives me more time and options to get the work done! I am excited and scared all at the same time! I have been out of school for 20 yrs. We just had our 20 yr HS reunion last weekend in fact! I am feeling rather old!! lol.

My father in law is doing incredibly well and has gotten over his ailment from last fall and winter. I have no doubt that prayers are all that got him this far. He beat the odds! They only gave him a 25% chance of living and were very Leary of even that high of a chance! I am amazed how far he has come. He is even back to farming part time! We are truly blessed to have more time with him! I have learned to never take anything for granted, as you never know how long you have with someone!

Sorry I have rambled on and on, but there's our life updated!! :) Hope I can find some time to post more often, but with the load I am going to be carrying, I find it might be impossible! You never know though! Well I need to get off of here and enjoy my beautiful kids! Have a good weekend all!

Is it really February?

It was a beautiful 72 degrees here today in Kansas. Can you believe that? 72 degrees in February? I am loving it! I hope it doesn't make our wheat come out of dormancy though and then have a huge winter storm and damage it. Life of a farmer..ugh.

Anyhow..after Trevor got out of school today at noon we drove about 30 miles from home to a wonderful and fun park to have a picnic lunch and play the afternoon away! My mom drove up and went along with us. It was such a fun and beautiful day. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the day. We were all tired after playing non-stop for over three hours on the playground. We swung, we slid, we played chase, we climbed. Drove a pretend train, danced on the amphitheater stage and walked along the river bridge. What a fun way to spend a nice winter afternoon. We didn't get any resistance at bedtime tonight. I think they were thoroughly worn out, as am I!

I have officially signed up for college and have to go and take my Accuplacer and Asset tests for English and Math next Friday to see where to place me in English and Math classes. I am kinda nervous about taking them, after all it will be Friday the 13th, I am hoping it will be a lucky day for me! I have to take the tests because it has been 20yrs since I graduated high school and been almost that long since I have cracked open any kind of text book. Yikes! I will start classes online this summer. I am excited!

Trevor has started reading, he had been doing some here and there, but this week he actually sat down and read me an entire easy reader book by himself! I am so proud of my 5yr old boy!!! I am continually amazed at the milestones my kids reach. It is very hard for me not to think of them as my little babies. I guess whether I want it or not they are growing up way to fast! I am so blessed to be a mother and have these little angels in my life! Truly blessed!

Totally random here, I am so in love with the song by The Fray, "You found me" I also love the song "How to Save a Life" great stuff! What do you think of them?

*side note, don't ask me why Trevor insisted on wearing a stocking cap in 70 degree weather, but he did. That's just him. Gotta love the kid.

Stepping In!

Well it official. I have enrolled at a community college near here and will be getting my associate's in accounting. It is through a 2+2 program in distance eduction. I will get my associates at HCC and then transfer to K-State and get my Bachelors in Business. I hope to eventually get a MBA. We shall see how this all goes..lol. But I am excited to get it all started. My first classes start this June. Wish me luck. It has been over 18 years since I attended school. It is kind of scary, but so great for my future. I am as excited as I am scared..lol.

Contemplating the Future!

With all the changes that have came about in our family the last couple of months I have been pondering the future and what it is that I want to do with my part of it.
Next year my youngest will be in Preschool and the other two in Grade school, so I will have a little more time to do things I want for myself. I have been looking into school and seriously thinking of getting my degree in Accounting that I vacated so long ago. There is a College nearby that I can attend during the mornings while the kids are all gone. You take one course at a time for 6 weeks and then move on to the next. It would take 18 months to get my degree. With Tom taking over the farm since his dad is unable to return to work, it will come in handy to have an accounting degree for the farm as well as working at a job outside the home.
I have been home with the kids for over four years now, which has been a true blessing. Although I am getting a bit anxious to get back into the workforce. We really don't need the extra income, but it would be nice to have that extra cushion with the economy being so unpredictable lately. It really is scary to walk into the unknown.
I guess I am just looking for advice as much as anything, how do the mothers out there balance home, school and their kids? Would it be crazy with busy kids to try and even attempt school? Any tips on balancing it all?

I haven't posted in a while about my FIL. He came home on Christmas eve and has been home since. He was released from Dialysis a week and half ago so doesn't have to go through that right now. He is still very ill and has another large abscess and infection in his stomach. Which will need surgery in the near future. We are very Leary that he would be able to survive another major surgery. He is so very weak and can only walk short distances with a walker. It is so hard to watch him and see how he has gone from a very active and social 65 yr old man to a brittle, unsocial, sick frail man in a little over 2 months. It breaks my heart that he is suffering so much and has lost his independence and zest for life. I know that the time we have left with him is precious, so we are making the most of it. I pray every day that he finds peace and comfort in his life and can live pain free. It's just a waiting game for the time being.

Oh What Angels!

Is there light at the end of the tunnel?

With all that's going on with the FIL and attending my aunts funeral, now we have to add a very sick three year old to the mix. Isaiah has thrown up no fewer than eight times in the last 24 hours and has had poop from his feet to his hair on more than one occasion! Yuck. My poor baby has the flu I fear!
Then Friday Trevor got sent the principals office twice for bad behavior at Kindergarten, this is the first time he has acted up in school! I received two letters in the mail today from his school, stating if he returns to the office once more before the 12th of Dec. he will lose recess privileges. The child is ADHD and needs his outdoor time. I have talked to him repeatedly but not sure if it's sinking in. He has had so much on his plate lately as the rest of us have had. It's funny how it affects kids also, when you don't think they understand what's going on. They really do! Lord help us!

Sheesh..I need a pity party..haha. Sorry if it sounds like I am so down and complaining, I am not really. Just venting so I don't implode..lol.

Living through trials

I have often heard the quote, "If he brings you to it, he will bring you through it!" I know God is helping us through our trials in life and if we have faith in him and believe that anything is possible, he will help us through even the roughest of times.

Although I know this in my heart, it is so hard sometimes to keep the faith and think that things will get better. Especially on days like this past Saturday night and Sunday morning. My father in law came home from the hospital on Thursday at noon after being there for a month with acute Pancreatitus. He has lost complete function of his pancreas and the illness shut down his kidneys. So he has to go three times a week for dialysis since they aren't functioning. Since the pancreas produces all your gastric enzymes and your bodies insulin, he has to take enzyme supplements before each meal and insulin shots at each meal to keep him going. It is a really bad situation. Well he was home 2 days when Saturday he got really ill and went into a diabetic coma and was taken by ambulance back to the hospital, he pulled through after a really rough night and just as we heard that they had stabilized him, the phone rang and it was my mom, her sister(my aunt)had just died of a massive heart attack. She was only 49 years old. Such tragedy. It is times like these when it is hard to see the light. How much can one person take and keep functioning? We still aren't sure my FIL will pull through and make it home again. I have to be strong, I have to keep faith in the Lord, but it is so hard sometimes!
