Color is good

Yesterday
I went to the doctor for my yearly physical.
My blood pressure was
high, my cholesterol was high,
I'd gained some weight, and I didn't
feel so hot.
My doctor said eating right doesn't have to
be
complicated and it would solve my physical
problems. He said
just think in colors...
Fill your plate with bright colors...
greens,
yellows, reds, etc.

I went
right home and ate an
entire bowl of :

And sure
enough, I felt better immediately.
I never knew eating right
could
be so
easy.

Easter Fun

What a busy weekend we had. But it was so much fun. We decorated Easter eggs on Saturday and the kids had such a great time. Just seeing the smiles on their faces makes my heart so full. Sunday after church my Mom, dad, brother, sister in law and nephew came up and had Easter dinner with us. After dinner we had an easter egg hunt in the backyard for the kids and then sat around visiting while the kids played. It has been nearly 2 years since my brother and his wife and kids have been to my house and I was so utterly thrilled to have them come this year. Although one of my nephews opted not to come, he wanted to spend time with his other grandparents, but at least one of the nephews was here.

After everyone left in the late afternoon we went to my In-laws for another dinner with them and the hubbies grandparents and brother. What a full day it was, after all that eating and the long day, we all fell into bed exhausted last night. It was also the last night of spring break and we had to get back into a routine today and that didn't go very well this morning. I am hoping things go better this evening and in the morning. We have a very busy week ahead of us this week as well so we shall see how everything goes. But I am so pleased and happy that we got to spend so much time with our loved ones and enjoy the holiday. What a very special day Easter is. It gives us so very much to be thankful for.

What American Accent do you have?

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Midland

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

The West

The South

North Central

Boston

The Inland North

Philadelphia

Well..I guess I don't have an accent, I just talk like a hick..haha.

Thankful Thursday

Trying to get this done each week...

1.Warmer weather. With this being spring break this week, it has been great to be able to be outside with the kids and doing fun things, instead of being cooped up in the house all the time.

2.Friends. My friends are such a blessing to me. Only wish there was more time to spend together.

3.New Play Equipment. The kids got a new play structure and it has been so much fun this week. They had outgrown our little tykes climbing stuff and it is nice to have a big wooden one to entertain them.

4.Shutterfly. I order so many prints online and download so many pictures, it really makes it all so simple. And they run some awesome deals also.

5.My blog. It is so great to be able to connect with so many other mother's out there and read about their lives and share mine.

6.Family. It is so great to have family so close(my husbands family is right here) and be able to get together on a whim and enjoy one another. My folks are a little over an hour away, but it's still close enough to spend time together.

7.Being able to drive.I am so fortunate that I have a drivers license and that I am able to drive and get to the places I want and need to go. Awww..the luxuries of life.

8.My husband. He is truly the best. He is such a great father and a wonderful friend and provider. Without which I would not be able to stay home with my kids each day.

Thanks again Tiburon for starting this. It is such a great thing to give thanks.

Fun day

The kids are on Spring break this week from Pre-school..yes our pre-school follows the same schedule as the regular schools..anyhow, we met a friend of mine and went to a little zoo and played in the park. We had a great time, the kids enjoyed playing with her girls and she and I had a great time catching up with one another. We haven't seen each other since November, so there was a lot to catch up on.

It gets really depressing that life keeps us so busy that we don't have as much time for our friendships as we did in the past. Lisa, and another friend of mine, Christel and I were inseparable back in the day. There wasn't a day in our lives that we didn't see each other or at least speak on the phone. Now with all of us having families and living an hour and half for one and two hours away for the other. It is really hard to stay in touch. Our kids are at such different stages because of all the age ranges, it makes it hard for them to have much in common also. But it is nice to get together and have that girlie time we used to have. I really miss them so much. I love my family and wouldn't want to change my life, but sure do miss the time we used to be able to spend together. Ho hum.

New Wind Farm in Kansas

Today the kids and I went about 40 miles from where we live to look at the wind Turbines for the new wind farm that was just built near here. We all were in aahhh of how huge these things are. Each blade is 240 feet long and there are three on each turbine.

There are 120 built and ready to go and another 30 of them already in production. When the second phase is complete and running which will be in November of this year this one farm will generate enough power to provide energy for 75,000 Kansas homes. It doesn't seem like a lot, but it will make a huge difference and the project will offset approximately 750,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year which seems like an astronomical amount. It is truly amazing to see them and watch them spin. Anything we can do to produce Renewable Energy is going to help our country.

Note the red Semi on the Interstate and how small it is compared to these massive things.

These particular Turbines are owned by Trade Wind Energy which is headquartered in Lenexa, Kansas. They will also sell some of the energy they produce to the Kansas City metro area.

If you ever make it through Kansas on I-70 west of Salina, be prepared to see this spectacular site. I took these pics today and it was a bit hazy so they aren't as clear as I had hoped. But impressive none the less.

Fun Blogger!

I have been lurking at Tiburon's site for some time now and that woman is amazing. She has such strength and dedication and is a fabulous mom to four beatiful kiddo's. If you haven't seen her blog..hop on over. You won't be dissapointed!

Little Girls

Kaylee is getting to the age where she is really starting to like to do things alone with mommy. One of them being shopping. She is a girl after my own heart..I love to get my shop on. (There are so many adorable things out there for girls. Why are there never any cute clothes for boys??) She is getting so big and changing so much. Her vocabulary has exploded this year and she amazes me with some of the things she comes up with. She is so much fun and I could never put into words how much I love this child, I love my boys just as much, but it warms my heart that my daughter wants to spend alone time with me. She has always been a daddies girl and the boys are definitely mommas boys, so to switch it up some is so great!

After my mom left on Sunday afternoon and the boys were napping at home with daddy, Kaylee and I decided to hit Old Navy. They have the cutest spring things out right now. She was having so much fun, picking things out saying.."mommy, this would make me look sooo cute!" it was adorable. (I looked online and they didn't have any of the items we bought in the store, so wasn't able to link any of them, sorry. But rest assured, there will be pics of her to come in the clothes this spring and summer.) What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Me and my girl shopping! Oh the memories!

Couldn't fight it..it has happened again...

(Isn't this cake Beautiful. Find more beautiful designs here)

Yep..that's right, Another Birthday has snuck up on me. Eeegadsss..I am 37 today. Where in the world has all the time gone? I know I should still be 25.

Yesterday it was sunny calm and in the lower 50's. Nice jacket weather..today, we woke up to an inch of snow and 14 degrees. The wind is blowing out of the north and it is down right nippy out there. Happy Birthday to me..haha. I am sick and tired of this ever changing weather pattern we are in. I am going to hunt down Mother Nature and have a talking too to that woman. She needs to get things straightened out in this neck of the woods..or I am gonna have to open a can on her candy A**. ;) Whew....glad I got that off my chest.

My momma is going to come spend the weekend with us and help celebrate my Birthday, I can't wait to see her. The kids are very excited..and when they get excited with anticipation..they seem to get very roudy and naughty. Today has been no exception. If I have to break up one more scuffle, or clean up one more mess..they are gonna wish this momma was on vacation in a far away land. Sheesh...it must be something in the air..I am feeling kinda hostile today..must be the hormones from Aunt Tilly and the fact that I am older than dirt blending together.

Here's hoping that the mandatory naps they are now taking helps make the rest of the day go smoother. Happy weekend to you all.

I will be in search of Midol or Xanax. haha.

Telemarketers Bugging you?

Do this...this is hilarious..but it does use the A** word a few times, so beware if the kids are around.

Toooo funny!!

Thankful Thursday!

I stumbled upon this on Tiburon's blog..if you haven't read her blogs..go there. She is a riot! Anyhow..I love the thankful Thursday she does and decided I would try and do it also.

1.My kids and husband, without them life would be so void and uneventful.

2.Electricity and computers, so we can use them and connect with people all over the world. I love my new blogging buddies!!

3.Water, without it, I wouldn't be able to do my twenty plus loads of laundry a week.

4.The beautiful blue sky, I am so glad I live in an area where I can see the vibrant blue sky and all it's glory. I love seeing the stars at night also.

5.My parents, without all their sacrifices in life, I wouldn't have the beautiful full life that I have now. Love them so much.

6.My hands and arms, so I can hold and hug my babies..and do all the things I need to care for them.

7.My mind, that I haven't lost it raising said kids..haha.

8.Seasons, oh how I love the changing of the seasons..I am so ready for Spring right now.

9.God, without him, we wouldn't be here.

10.Haircolor, it keeps those silver threads away.

Thanks for coming up with the idea Tiburon..love it!

My baby is going to Kindergarten...boohooo..

Yesterday we met Trevor's Kindergarten teacher, Ms. Noon, he was so very excited. He didn't understand when preschool started this year and all his friends from last year had gone on to Grade school. He was so devastated, but now that he knows he will be going in August to Kindergarten, he is beside himself with joy. I hope he understands that all his friends from last year will be in 1st grade by then. Oh..the many things we have to teach our kids.

It makes me very sad that he is only 5 month's away from grade school. Where did my baby go? Seems we rush them reaching each new stage in their lives and don't realize how truly fast they are growing up. What I wouldn't give to hold him as an infant again. Don't get me wrong, I am very happy for him and his excitement for school, I do want him to grow up and excel in life, just don't want it to go so fast. Guess the one thing certain in
life is, time keeps marching on.

What can you do with balloons??

I saw these and thought they were amazing. What do you think? With this kind of talent it seems kind of a waste to use it with balloons don't ya think?

My Big Redneck Wedding

(photo courtesy of My Big Redneck Wedding, CMT.com)
Oh boy..have any of you seen My Big Redneck Wedding on CMT? That show cracks me up. It's very humbling and makes me appreciate the little bit of class that my family has. Some of those weddings are straight out of the backwoods of Kentucky.(Nothing against the backwoods of Kentucky or their kin by any means). Just the epitamy of redneckism. If you need some entertainment, surf on over to CMT and catch you and episode. You won't be disappointed. ;)

Soccer time..

Trevor has finally reached the ripe old age of four and can now play peewee soccer. He is beside himself with excitement. He came up to me the other day while playing with a kickball and said "Mommy, I want to play that game where they kick the black and white ball around, you know mommy..baseball" hehe..gotta love em.

I got him signed up last week and we are waiting to hear from his coach on when the first practice is going to be. They will play games on Saturdays starting the first week of April and run for 6 weeks. I hope he really enjoys it. Boy howdy, he could sure use the time to burn off all the extra energy he has.
