Color is good

Yesterday
I went to the doctor for my yearly physical.
My blood pressure was
high, my cholesterol was high,
I'd gained some weight, and I didn't
feel so hot.
My doctor said eating right doesn't have to
be
complicated and it would solve my physical
problems. He said
just think in colors...
Fill your plate with bright colors...
greens,
yellows, reds, etc.

I went
right home and ate an
entire bowl of :

And sure
enough, I felt better immediately.
I never knew eating right
could
be so
easy.

Easter Fun

What a busy weekend we had. But it was so much fun. We decorated Easter eggs on Saturday and the kids had such a great time. Just seeing the smiles on their faces makes my heart so full. Sunday after church my Mom, dad, brother, sister in law and nephew came up and had Easter dinner with us. After dinner we had an easter egg hunt in the backyard for the kids and then sat around visiting while the kids played. It has been nearly 2 years since my brother and his wife and kids have been to my house and I was so utterly thrilled to have them come this year. Although one of my nephews opted not to come, he wanted to spend time with his other grandparents, but at least one of the nephews was here.

After everyone left in the late afternoon we went to my In-laws for another dinner with them and the hubbies grandparents and brother. What a full day it was, after all that eating and the long day, we all fell into bed exhausted last night. It was also the last night of spring break and we had to get back into a routine today and that didn't go very well this morning. I am hoping things go better this evening and in the morning. We have a very busy week ahead of us this week as well so we shall see how everything goes. But I am so pleased and happy that we got to spend so much time with our loved ones and enjoy the holiday. What a very special day Easter is. It gives us so very much to be thankful for.

What American Accent do you have?

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Midland

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

The West

The South

North Central

Boston

The Inland North

Philadelphia

Thankful Thursday

Trying to get this done each week...

1.Warmer weather. With this being spring break this week, it has been great to be able to be outside with the kids and doing fun things, instead of being cooped up in the house all the time.

2.Friends. My friends are such a blessing to me. Only wish there was more time to spend together.

3.New Play Equipment. The kids got a new play structure and it has been so much fun this week. They had outgrown our little tykes climbing stuff and it is nice to have a big wooden one to entertain them.

4.Shutterfly. I order so many prints online and download so many pictures, it really makes it all so simple. And they run some awesome deals also.

5.My blog. It is so great to be able to connect with so many other mother's out there and read about their lives and share mine.

6.Family. It is so great to have family so close(my husbands family is right here) and be able to get together on a whim and enjoy one another. My folks are a little over an hour away, but it's still close enough to spend time together.

7.Being able to drive.I am so fortunate that I have a drivers license and that I am able to drive and get to the places I want and need to go. Awww..the luxuries of life.

8.My husband. He is truly the best. He is such a great father and a wonderful friend and provider. Without which I would not be able to stay home with my kids each day.

Thanks again Tiburon for starting this. It is such a great thing to give thanks.

Fun day

The kids are on Spring break this week from Pre-school..yes our pre-school follows the same schedule as the regular schools..anyhow, we met a friend of mine and went to a little zoo and played in the park. We had a great time, the kids enjoyed playing with her girls and she and I had a great time catching up with one another. We haven't seen each other since November, so there was a lot to catch up on.

It gets really depressing that life keeps us so busy that we don't have as much time for our friendships as we did in the past. Lisa, and another friend of mine, Christel and I were inseparable back in the day. There wasn't a day in our lives that we didn't see each other or at least speak on the phone. Now with all of us having families and living an hour and half for one and two hours away for the other. It is really hard to stay in touch. Our kids are at such different stages because of all the age ranges, it makes it hard for them to have much in common also. But it is nice to get together and have that girlie time we used to have. I really miss them so much. I love my family and wouldn't want to change my life, but sure do miss the time we used to be able to spend together. Ho hum.

New Wind Farm in Kansas

Today the kids and I went about 40 miles from where we live to look at the wind Turbines for the new wind farm that was just built near here. We all were in aahhh of how huge these things are. Each blade is 240 feet long and there are three on each turbine.

There are 120 built and ready to go and another 30 of them already in production. When the second phase is complete and running which will be in November of this year this one farm will generate enough power to provide energy for 75,000 Kansas homes. It doesn't seem like a lot, but it will make a huge difference and the project will offset approximately 750,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year which seems like an astronomical amount. It is truly amazing to see them and watch them spin. Anything we can do to produce Renewable Energy is going to help our country.

Note the red Semi on the Interstate and how small it is compared to these massive things.

These particular Turbines are owned by Trade Wind Energy which is headquartered in Lenexa, Kansas. They will also sell some of the energy they produce to the Kansas City metro area.

If you ever make it through Kansas on I-70 west of Salina, be prepared to see this spectacular site. I took these pics today and it was a bit hazy so they aren't as clear as I had hoped. But impressive none the less.
